Abstract:

My presentation is anything but an academic paper. It is a story. The story of the emergence of an international scholarly journal; an Orthodox Journal of Cross-Cultural Theology, Dialogue and Mission, SALT: Crossroads of Religion and Culture, which we are celebrating today. So today, I will draw back the curtain a little and share with you some snapshots from backstage.
It takes a village to raise a child, says an African proverb, taught to me by my friend and collaborator Dr Elizabeth Theokritoff. And it takes a city to raise, support and sustain a journal, an international scholarly journal. I shall guide you through the synergies that made the birth of the journal possible. If it takes a city to sustain and support, at core it takes only an inspired community of people who share a dream, which becomes a vision, which is shaped into a project, and perhaps finds a way to be put into practice and at some point becomes a reality.
