“Deaconesses: Past – Present – Future» International Symposium

The International Hellenic University (IHU), and the Center of Ecumenical, Missiological and Environmental Studies (CEMES), are organizing an International Symposium, with the title “Deaconesses: Past – Present – Future»”.

The symposium will be held between 31 January and 2 February 2020 at the International Hellenic University in Thermi, Thessaloniki.

There will be a particular emphasis on the Initiative of the Patriarchate of Alexandria for the revival of the institution of Deaconesses. There will be a discussion of the different types of responses from the perspectives of missiology, liturgy, history, archaeology, and Biblical, Patristic, and canonical studies.

Two members of the Board of Salt will take part in the works of the symposium, rev. Prof. Cyril Hovorun and the editor in Chief, Dr. Evangelia Voulgaraki. Other participants serving in the fields of Missiology and Crosscultural Theology will also take part.
